Dr Tayler Watson MBBS MPM BSc FRANZCP

Consultant Psychiatrist

Dr Tayler Watson is a consultant psychiatrist and founder of Geelong Psychiatry. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) with subspecialist training in consultation-liaison psychiatry and a special interest in neuropsychiatry.

Based in Geelong, Dr Watson works across both public and private mental health settings and has experience in a broad range of clinical contexts. He completed his undergraduate and medical training at Deakin University, followed by specialist psychiatry training in Geelong.

Having grown up in regional Victoria, he brings a strong understanding of regional communities to his practice. Dr Watson takes a careful, evidence-based approach and works collaboratively with patients and their treating teams to develop clear, practical and individualised treatment plans. His practice is grounded in professionalism, compassion and respectful care.

  • Yes. A valid referral from a General Practitioner or another medical specialist is required. A referral is also necessary to access Medicare rebates where eligible.

  • The practice provides services to adults aged 18 years and over. Referrals are accepted for assessment, treatment, medication management, and second opinions where clinically appropriate.

  • Yes. Telepsychiatry appointments are available for suitable patients in Geelong and across Victoria. Suitability for Telehealth is assessed on an individual basis.

  • The practice provides assessment and treatment for a range of mental health conditions, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, ADHD, trauma-related conditions, and psychotic disorders. Treatment is tailored following assessment.

  • Medication may be prescribed when clinically indicated following a comprehensive assessment. Treatment options are discussed collaboratively.

  • Initial assessments are typically longer than review appointments to allow adequate time for evaluation. Appointment lengths are outlined on the fees page.

  • Medicare rebates are usually available for eligible patients with a valid referral. Rebates depend on the consultation type and current Medicare item numbers.

  • Yes. With patient consent, communication with referring practitioners is an important part of ongoing care.

  • Payment and any eligible rebates are processed on the day of your appointment.
